I grew up in a rural town in Michigan in a family of 6 children (I’m #3). Raised as a Lutheran, I attended Christian day schools. After attending the University of Michigan, where I was on the ski team, a friend and I left for Europe with a Eurail pass and not much money. After traveling for a bit, I worked as a Zimmermädchen in Austria, and then as a translator in Switzerland. Returning to the US after a year, I worked at the University of Michigan Hospital before attending 4 years of graduate school, receiving a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration, followed by an MBA in finance.
